Changelog

What changed, and when

New tools, changed settings and corrected pages are listed here with their dates, newest first.

Entries cover anything that changes what a tool does, what it offers or what a page claims. Small wording fixes are not listed.

  1. New tools

Added Edit properties (set the title, author, subject, keywords and custom properties), Extract images (save the pictures stored inside a PDF), Create a form (add text boxes, check boxes, radio buttons, drop-downs, dates and signature boxes) and Compare PDFs (list the words that changed between two versions, with an optional look-different check and a downloadable report). All run in your browser, like the rest. Try Compare PDFs

  2. Extract pages

Extract pages can now delete pages as well as keep them: choose Delete them, pick the pages to remove, and every other page is saved in order. The page title and headings now say so. Delete pages

  3. Guides

Four new guides: how to get the original images out of a PDF, how to compare two versions of a contract, how to turn a flat PDF into a fillable form, and how to set a PDF’s title, author and keywords properly. All guides

  4. Engine

The PDF engine was updated to the latest upstream revision and rebuilt. Every existing tool was re-tested on it. The licences page lists the new revision and components. Licences

  5. New tools

Added Redact PDF, which permanently deletes the text and image pixels under the boxes you draw or the text you search for. Added Remove metadata, Repair PDF, PDF to text, Annotate PDF, Flatten PDF and Crop PDF. All run in your browser, like the rest. Try Redact PDF

  6. Protect PDF

The Protect PDF page and settings now show AES-256 encryption and the print, copy and edit permission switches up front. The encryption and the permissions it sets are unchanged. Protect PDF

  7. Guides

Four new guides: how to redact a PDF properly, what hidden data a PDF carries and how to strip it, how to fix a PDF that won’t open, and how to annotate a PDF for review. All guides

  8. Pages

Added this changelog and a licences page that lists the open-source components behind the PDF engine, with their licences and the notices they require. Licences

  9. Tool pages

Rewrote the support content for all fifteen tools then live: step-by-step instructions with screenshots, worked examples, troubleshooting tables and glossaries, each checked against what the tool really does.
