How to rotate PDF pages and save them permanently
Turning a page in a PDF viewer usually only changes your view, and the file opens sideways again next time. This tool saves the rotation into the PDF itself, so the pages are the right way up for everyone you send it to. It’s ideal for phone scans where a landscape table came out on its side, or for a whole document that was scanned upside down.

Every page is shown as a thumbnail with its own rotate buttons.
- 2
Rotate
Turn single pages, a selection, or the whole document left, right or 180°.

Why rotating a PDF here is lossless
Rotation is applied in your browser; the document is never uploaded anywhere.
Every PDF page has a rotation setting, a simple instruction to readers to show the page at 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°. This tool only changes that setting. The page’s content (its text, images and vector drawings) is left byte-for-byte as it was, so rotating is completely lossless and the file size barely changes.
If a page already had a rotation, the new turn is added to it: a page set to 90° that you turn right once more ends up at 180°.
Straightening landscape tables in a report
A 24-page report has six wide tables that appear sideways. Instead of hunting for them, use the landscape quick filter, which selects every page that is currently wider than tall. Press Rotate left once and all six turn together while the portrait pages stay put. The save button now reads “Save 6 rotated pages”. Changed your mind about one? Use its own button, or Undo, before you download.
Good to know
- With nothing selected, the toolbar buttons rotate every page. Select pages first to rotate only those.
- Odd and Even quick-selects help with duplex scans where every back page came out upside down.
- If a rotated page still looks sideways, your PDF viewer may be showing a cached copy: close and reopen the file.
- Need to reorder or delete pages too? Organize pages does rotation as well.

Rotate PDF: frequently asked questions
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Rotation is stored as a page setting, so text and images are untouched and nothing is re-compressed.
Can I rotate only one page?
Yes. Each thumbnail has its own left and right buttons, or select several pages and use the toolbar.
Can I rotate only the landscape pages?
Yes. Use the quick filters to select every landscape (wider than tall) or portrait page in one click, then rotate them together.
Why does my viewer still show the page sideways?
Some viewers remember how they last displayed a file, or have their own rotate-view setting. Close the file fully and reopen the downloaded copy.
Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. It’s saved into the downloaded PDF, so it opens the right way up in any reader, on any device.
